After fifteen years in Antwerp, Willem and Sarah traded city life for the calm of Ezaart, a small village between Mol and Geel. There, they fell in love with a remarkable architect’s house by Roger Vanhoof: a brutalist design from the 1970s, inspired by the principles of Le Corbusier.

This respect for the original design runs throughout the entire home. Honest materials, soft lighting and a collection of design pieces gathered over the years create an interior that feels both distinctive and calm. The strong architectural character remains present, without overpowering the space.
When renovating the kitchen, Willem and Sarah were looking for a solution that would connect with the spirit of the house, without simply recreating the past:
“We had once seen a Kewlox kitchen, and the idea stayed with us. It felt like a natural way to reconnect with the original character of the house, while giving it a contemporary interpretation.”
The connection with Kewlox goes back much further than this home. As a child, Willem grew up surrounded by these cabinets, passed down within the family, reused and reconfigured over the years.
“I always loved the idea that Kewlox is a kind of "existential LEGO". You build with it, adapt it, and pass it on.”
The house needed a thorough renovation, but its original qualities were still very much present. The goal was never to create a completely new interior, but rather to reveal the character that was already there:
“When we first saw it, we immediately fell in love with it. We invested a lot of time and energy into bringing it back to the way it was meant to be.”
Choosing Kewlox brought more than a practical solution. The modular furniture also introduced colour and a sense of playfulness into the interior. With existing elements such as the carpets, curtains and walls that could not be repainted, the furniture became a subtle way to add new accents.
That same philosophy is present throughout the home today. From the kitchen to the bedroom cabinets that also function as room dividers, every piece of furniture is designed to evolve with the space and with everyday life. Not as a separate object, but as a natural part of the architecture.
